Possibilities

this is possibilities. At first glance it looks like a blank canvas, because nothing is on it. however, its by no means empty. its full of possibilites. this lone blank canvas has the possiblity to become the greatest work of art in the world. its my inspiration knowing what i can do with this. possibilities doesnt just apply to a blank white canvas either. it can be anything to any artist. a building covered with scraps becomes graffitited. somewhere sometime an artist deciced that wall was blank so they put their art on it. this is possibilities. how i first came to make possibilites is a novel in itself.

Evening Greetings

This picture was a request from a good friend of mine whom wanted me to draw them a panda. so out of my mind i drew three random pandas with out a reference but i think they look pretty accurate. i had sort of vision that walking in the forest and traversing the bamboo you stumble upon a panda. i call this "Evening Greetings"

As a child

As a child i always wondered what was in space. When i got older text books, and other sources filled my head with ideas of space being baren, lifeless, but most of all mysterious. in this picture i call "Lava Galaxy" the lava flowing through the worlds is a life form in itself. it travels the galaxy with no real purpose but to keep moving forward.

Shaping my life

this picture was drawn by me and colored using water color.
i came about this picture by randomly sketchnig shapes and i thought to myself what can i make out of these shapes. then i drew a man falling into pieces of shapes with his hand outstretched. Also in the debris the shapes form the word life. this picture has a deep meaning that can be interpeted differently from person to person.

colors that scheme

in these various post I worked with different color schemes. in the first I worked with faint shades of red, black and white. the second I used red, blue, and yellow under some black shades. the last I used brown, red, and blue. All three pictures mean something different I will upload each separately and explain their meaning.

Master piece or disaster piece

A couple weeks ago i visited the art museum in downtown Chicago. I chose a piece of work that i thought was a master piece. Take note i did not like the majority of the art in the museum. But these two really stuck out to me and i was genuinely amazed.

i consider these two Master pieces. the craft and delicate nature of how it looks is amazing. their skin seems relatively smooth and the expression in their face is blank however it is not emotionless. the features of their face are so realistic and amazing. Even the texture of the hair is nicely crafted. At a further look the people crafted are beautiful.

AND go

Last week we had an assignment where we had to draw a picture only in our art building. It could be anywhere in the building but no where else. We were not allowed to work on it anywhere else. I finished it in the hour and a half we had left in class. This picture got distorted in the scanner however i liked the effect so i kept it. I drew and colored this in roughly 15 minutes.  I also used it as a study on copic markers. I wanted to get the feel of how their tones worked. I learned alot from this piece and about a new medium, markers.

Exquisite Corpse

Exquisite Corpse-also known as rotating corpse, is a method by which a collection of words or images is collectively assembled. Each collaborator/artist adds to a composition in sequence, either by following a rule by being allowed to see only the end of what the previous person contributed.
In our assignment we had 8 boxes from 8 different artist. So originally i didnt touch a single imag on here. we had to take a completely foreign picture and make it match our rules. This was very challenging, however i made it fit to some degree. My next post will show what i started with and how i came to my final picture.

SECTION 80

Imagine being lost, and its raining so hard the only thing you can see is a faint glimmer of flesh that was once your hands. Then a glaring light so clear appears. the clarity is unmistakeably a rainbow.
You are now at the beginning of the rainbow. It transports you to the unknown where you are greeted by weird eye ball creatures, dragons and space. In the corner of your eye you see the planet earth and the trail of the rainbow that consumed you. You reach up and burst through the rainbow causing another phenomenon. Then the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow commends you on coming here, as if you had a choice. It tells you this is the realm of the unnatural, where reality is crushed and the impossible is possible and the possible, the possible is simply your imagination. He welcomes you to "Section 80".

Wag

,this is called follow the w.a.g and be happy. W.A.G is a clothing brand I once thought of and I wanted to make. that is how this picture relates to me. it also follows all three rules in that the center fold is the character wag. the overall attitude is happy. everyone follows the wag and is happy.

Easily Influenced

Back again with a new picture I drew. I am starting a set with a set of 3 rules.
1. there has to be a center piece or a piece that stands out
2. it has to has attitude or showing emotion however not necessarily human.
3. it has to relate to me somehow, I will usually mark it but from my first blog you can infer what relates to me

this picture is called easily influenced and is drawn with pencil. the center is kid with his arms folded and is the only one you can see his entire body unfolded. the attitude expressed in this picture is emotion sort of like a theater feel.

MR. SMITH

Well let me first start by saying Hello. If you want to get technical I started by saying well. Now notice another thing I don't really care for technicalities unless those technicalities are technically technical?

I am Kolin Smith
(yup this is me)and piece of art I made.

So if you have not guessed it yet this blog is about me. Right now its 11:57 pm and I am listening to black skinhead by Kanye West. I like all music but technically I listen to rap genre the most.
French toast its not sweet like you would think. I am an artist.

Artist: "An artist is a person engaged in one or more of any of a broad spectrum of activities related to creating art, practicing the arts, and/or demonstrating an art".

The type of art I create is diverse. It ranges from physical to literal, from audio to visual, lyrical to spiritual.

Can you guess what I do?
Well *starts with well again* I draw, martial arts, paint, photography, dance, rap, and animate.
I can also act and direct.
In my free time I create movie scenes and act them out.

Okay for now that's enough about me really lets hear your problems maybe we can solve em.
